Community Educational Center society has been formed by people who have dedicated their services to bring a lasting change in the lives of children in difficult circumstances . CECS has been actively working since 2001 for the welfare of the children especially among the child labour, street children, orphans, maidservants and under privileged children. CECS officially came into existence on 10th of April 2001 with Mr. Subonenba Longkumer as the chairman of the board with the support of world vision of India. During the past eight years Community Educational Center Society has been able to rehabilitate more than 500 children through education in the center. However apart from imparting education to such children CECS has been involved in creating through awareness program, campaigns, medical camp, life skill training, and capacity building trainings.

Community Educational Center society which was started with few children under the shed of a tree at rail bazaar today has grown into elementary school with its own infrastructure having more than 400 children with 14 full time teachers and staffs.

Since the sponsorship from World Vision phase out last September 2005 the school was left with no income generation program. Therefore in order to sustain the school, child sponsorship program was launched on 28th of Feb 2006 under the banner “Nostalgia” Ray of Hope. The centre received very positive response and more than hundred individuals, families and organization came forward to sponsor the children though out the previous year.

CECS seek to transform the lives of the vulnerable children through comprehensive educational values, health care and developmental activities that promote and safeguard the rights of the children in the community.
